ABDUL Razak Baginda ended his relationship with Altantuya Shaariibuu through an SMS sent to her cousin last year, the High Court was told.
Burmaa Oyunchimeg, a cousin of the deceased, popularly known as Amy, confirmed yesterday that she received that SMS.
“Yes, he told me he did not want to see Altantuya again. He sent an SMS to my phone,” she said when examined by DPP Manoj Kurup.
Asked if she remembered what the SMS said, Burmaa, the sixth prosecution witness, replied that Abdul Razak sent her the following: “Amy, can you let Altantuya know that I don’t want to see her again?”
However, Burmaa, a management and marketing graduate, said she did not remember which month she received it.
Asked if she told Altantuya about the SMS, she replied that she did.
“She said there was a little problem between them and that she would sort it out. According to her, it was just a little misunderstanding,” said the witness who earlier testified that she first met Abdul Razak in Hong Kong in late 2004.
Burmaa told the court that Altantuya had introduced her to him and since then, had met him two other times at the Hyatt Hotel in Shanghai in January 2005 and in Singapore two months later. She said her deceased cousin was present each time she met the analyst.
Asked to describe the relationship between Altantuya and Abdul Razak, Burmaa said they were “like boyfriend and girlfriend.”
Elaborating on how Altantuya sorted out her problem with Abdul Razak, the witness said: “She told me while we were in Hong Kong last August that she was going to Malaysia to meet him.”
She said she was in touch with Altantuya the whole time until she went missing.
Burmaa said she found out about Altantuya’s disappearance when Namiraa Gerelmaa, another one of the deceased’s cousins who came to Malaysia with her, called her on the night of Oct 19.
That was the same night Altantuya went to Abdul Razak’s house in Damansara Heights before she was seen driven away in a red Proton Wira.
